Celebration on Fri., Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. marks end of 2019 Nickerson dig

Please join us this Friday at 2 p.m. for refreshments and a brief archaeological talk at the campus of the Nickerson Family Association, 1107 Orleans Road, North Chatham. Archaeologist Craig Chartier will offer updates and insights into the second and final season of the Nickerson dig which has revealed William and Anne Nickerson’s c. 1664 homestead and its outbuildings as well as many fascinating artifacts that have given a window into the Nickersons’ lives as pioneers in what became Chatham. The dig will end on Sept. 20.
We will serve refreshments inside the historic Caleb Nickerson Homestead followed by a brief talk at the dig site. The dig site is next door to the NFA on land owned by the Chatham Conservation Foundation, Inc. While you’re there, you can see the progress being made on the CCF’s restoration project. And unlike last year, the weather forecast looks great!
