Join us for a “Secret Garden Floral Arrangement Treasure Hunt” on Sat., Aug. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Caleb Nickerson Homestead, rain or shine.

Who doesn’t love the children’s novel “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett? Floral designer Sonny Gada will provide background on the classic story while creating a beautiful floral arrangement. Following a demonstration in the art of floral design, Gada will raffle off the arrangement. Even more intriguing, one guest will win a second arrangement, hidden in “the secret garden.”

The event will be held at the c. 1829 Caleb Nickerson Homestead at 1107 Orleans Road, North Chatham.

Gada, who lives in Chatham, has been a floral designer and horticulturist for over 50 years. His floral arrangements have been featured in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts annual event “Art in Bloom.” He has also created his own local C3TV show “Sonny’s Floral Show” for the past 28 years. A teacher and lecturer, Sonny brings a unique approach to floral arranging, approaching it as an art, and using all of nature as his palette.

Preregistration is required by Aug. 16 as space is limited. The cost of the program is $20. To register, go to the store at nickersonassoc.com. For more information call 508-945-6086 or email wmnick1107@gmail.com. The event is sponsored by the Nickerson Family Association, Inc.
