Sat., Jan. 27, 2024, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Colonial Cooking Club, Beehive Oven Event with Open Hearth Cook Anne Firth. Membership is $5 plus a $20 “oven firing fee.” Email wmnick1107@gmail.com for club membership information.

Wed., March 13, 2024, 2 p.m.: “Breaking Through Genealogical Brick Walls.” David Martin, past president of the Cape Cod Genealogical Society, gave an illustrated talk via Zoom on how he broke through a stubborn brick wall after 30 years of work.

Wed., June 5, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: C. 1829 Caleb Nickerson Homestead Opens for 2024 season with guided tours. We are open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sat. June 15: Chatham History Weekend, NFA Grounds Open 10 am to 4 pm. Caleb Nickerson Homestead open for self-guided tours 10 am to 3 pm. Talks: 10 am Timber framer Ian Ellison on the reconstruction of the historic barn; 11 am “I Dig It:” Gary Nickerson on the archaeological excavation of William & Anne’s c. 1664 homestead; Noon: “Dooryard Garden in a Container:” Sonny Gada plants a portable kitchen herb garden; 1 to 2:30 pm: Fiber artist Cheryl Flett demonstrates spinning wool. All talks are free.

Fri., Sept. 6 through Sun., Sept. 8: NFA Annual Reunion in historic Barnstable Village and Chatham. Registration will open in June.

All materials are provided for fiber arts and floral arranging workshops.

Sat., Oct. 19, 1 p.m.: Create a pumpkin through the ancient art of felting with fiber artist Cheryl Flett. All materials provided. New this year!

Sat., Oct. 26, 1 p.m.: Create a spooky Halloween centerpiece with floral arranger Sonny Gada.

Sat., Nov. 16, 1 p.m.: Create an angel through the ancient art of felting with fiber artist Cheryl Flett. New this year!

Sat., Nov. 23, 1 p.m.: Create a Thanksgiving centerpiece with floral arranger Sonny Gada.

Sat., Dec. 7, 1 to 4 p.m.: Deck the Halls at our Annual Holiday Hearthside Open House! Join us for a wonderful start to the holiday season. Take photos with a Victorian Santa! Bring mittens for our fourth annual Mitten Tree. All mittens go to the Chatham Children’s Fund. The event is free and open to all. In 2023 we collected 59 pairs of mittens! Thank you all for your great generosity.

Sat., Dec. 14, 1 p.m.: Create a holiday centerpiece with floral arranger Sonny Gada.

All hands-on floral programs will be led by Sonny Gada of Chatham. Sonny has been a floral designer and horticulturist for over 50 years. His floral arrangements have been featured in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts annual event “Art in Bloom.” Fiber artist Cheryl Flett, who hails from Chicago, is self-taught in the ancient art of felting. She is also proficient in dyeing wool, spinning, loom knitting and basic tapestry weaving. We welcome Cheryl, who is new to the Caleb Nickerson Homestead Hands-On-History program this year.

Preregistration is required for the hands-on programs as space is limited.
